About

“Around 1980, etymologists at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and in 1939 Dr. Sula Benet, confirmed that cannabis is mentioned in the Bible by name — Kineboisin (also spelled Kannabosm / Kaneh Bosem) — in a list of measured ingredients for ‘an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of apothecary.’ The word was mistranslated in the King James Version as ‘calamus.’” — Latimer, 1988

Exodus 30:22–25. God told Moses to make the holy oil using principal spices. Verse 25 names the art of the apothecary — a person who prepared and sold medicines.

GLab-GRx is a South Carolina compassionate-care lab. We formulate anointing oil and chewable / under-tongue tablets from the five named ingredients of the holy oil, with no other active ingredients added beyond food-grade inactive compounds in the tablets.

Imaging can show structure. It cannot show chemistry. That is one reason doctor oversight still matters while anyone uses medicines or botanicals.

The Holy Anointing Oil

It is not only about cannabis. Kaneh-Bosem is an essential part of a measured compound. Historic material was far milder in THC (often described around 1%) than much of what is sold today. The finished oil is meant to support homeostasis — the body’s own chemistry coming back into balance — together with sleep and food.

The compounds

Kaneh-Bosem and homeostasis

Kaneh-Bosem works with the endocannabinoid system, which helps regulate the body’s internal balance. Sleep and diet belong in that same picture.

Myrrh

Traditionally used in medicines for digestion, respiratory discomfort, swelling, and as an antimicrobial resin.

PMID 12685809 PMC2664784

Sweet cinnamon

Added for flavor and for its antioxidant, antimicrobial, and traditional digestive uses. Some research also looks at short-term effects on blood pressure and blood sugar.

PMID 17924872 JABFM

Cassia cinnamon

The stronger cinnamon bark named in the Exodus recipe. Used historically for circulation, cramps, and related complaints.

PMID 32573270

Olive oil (Shemen)

Carrier oil rich in monounsaturated fat and antioxidants. Research associates extra-virgin olive oil with lower inflammation and support for cholesterol that has not been oxidized.

Tablets

Chewable and under-tongue tablets from GLab-GRx use the same active botanicals. Only inactive medical food-grade compounds are added in manufacturing. No other actives are introduced into the anointing oil itself.

FDA consumer update

Most modern medicines — and many plants — carry cautions. Cannabis is a seeded herb. That does not remove the need to read current safety information.
